POSTS

Categories

For our Instagram posts, we are currently strictly following a categorization scheme, which is 2 current issue or academic posts related to gender equality, and 1 meme or discussion post about gender equality, then repeat. For our current issue, we have posted about topics such as ‘males in nursing’, ‘The K-pop Industry and gender inequality’, and ‘Disney Princesses’.

The other category of posts is memes. This type of posts aims to, and is effective in, attracting our target audience. Youngsters like viewing memes as a form of entertainment. With our memes, they can enjoy a laugh while being more aware of gender issues. With entertainment, we can keep our target audience engaged in our work and our account, and can also encourage reached users to share our posts, which increases our social media presence and thereby further spreading our vision of gender equality.

We greatly value consistency in the content that we generate. We have decided a consistent color tone and graphic design style for our posts, which helps build up an identity that people can easily recognize and follow. Looking at the broader picture, people clicking into and viewing our profile will also see that our layout also has a consistent style. Since Instagram shows 3 photos per row, we repeat our categories every 3 posts as mentioned before, making our profile look clean and organized.

Research

Another feature of our posts is that they are deeply researched but easy to read. For every topic, we read at least 3 studies, and usually more. Research papers used are also published as recent as possible, so that we do not give out of date information, which may not be accurate. As observed, we try our best to make sure that everything we share to the public is true and can help educate the public on matters of gender equality.

Even though our posts are deeply rooted in academic research, we also make sure that our posts are easy to read and accessible to everyone interested. From the research we read, we collect main ideas, then summarize them into key points that we want to share. A short paragraph is then written from those details in an attractive and easily understood fashion. Simply put, we are doing the tedious academic research work on gender equality for our target audience so that they will not have to spend hours looking at research papers on gender equality topics that they are interested in.
